The cowboy is an iconic figure in American culture. Skills that were developed for work soon turned to sport and the rodeo began. It became an opportunity for cowboys to gather and showcase their skills and talents. Cowtown, the oldest weekly competitive rodeo in America, is located near a small town in Southern New Jersey. Competition is held here every Saturday night between May and September. The crowd looks on and cheers with excitement as cowboys ride bulls, bareback and saddle bronc, and wrestle steer for cash prizes and titles. And every week these cowboys continue to preserve a rich history of American culture.
